Axe the Family Farm Tax 🚜

Yesterday, our MPs joined farmers in Westminster to call on the Government to axe Labour’s family farm tax.

Farmers are absolutely vital to this country.

They put high quality food on our tables and look after our countryside - without them we would all be worse off.

After years of the Conservatives taking rural communities for granted, farmers hoped that a new government might give them the respect and care they deserve.

Instead, Labour’s tax changes threaten thousands of small family farms.

Farmers’ incomes have been hit hard in recent years.

The Conservatives’ botched deal with the EU has been a disaster for our farmers. To make matters worse, they then signed deals with Australia and New Zealand which undercut British farmers on animal welfare and environmental standards.

Our research showsthat farm subsidies have fallen 20% in real terms since 2015, equivalent to £722 million, or £3,000 for every farm.

Now, Labour’s tax changes will be a disaster for family farms.

The Chancellor must urgently rethink, scrap the family farm tax and finally give farmers the support they deserve, not place more burdens upon them and the rural communities that rely on them.
