Ever thought of becoming a Councillor?

March 14, 2020 12:22 PM

We live in strange times! The announcement yesterday that the English local elections have been deferred by a year actually has no consequence for us as (thankfully) none were due to take place apart from the Police and Crime Commissioner election .

Although it may still seem a long way off we are soon to begin the process of selecting candidates for the County Council elections in May 2021.

This your chance to serve your community and help bring about changes to improve how they are served. If there are things you don't like about the way things are run today help change it!
We are drawing up a shortlist of those that might be interested in standing for the Council. Existing members and supporters are obviously very welcome to put themselves forward but we are aware that there are many people who work tirelessly volunteering and organising in their communities who are not members of any political party.

Over many years the Liberal Democrat's have built a great reputation for community activism with our councillors highly rated for their work supporting local people. We would therefore also be interested to hear from anyone who generally supports the principles of the Party ( these can be found at https://www.libdems.org.uk/constitution ) and would be interested in standing for us at the elections.
The Conservatives have generally dominated Suffolk County Council and the poor educational record and decimated local bus services are just two of their recent legacies. We want to change that!

If you are interested in being considered or would like a chat about what being a candidate and Councillor actually involves we love to hear from you.
