Lib Dems were celebrating their first councillors on Great Cornard Parish Council tonight after defeating the Conservatives and Labour.

"Great Cornard has been dominated by the Conservatives on the Parish Council and this has led to complacency and falling out. This is a very good result with 2 thoughtful and excellent new councillors elected. Lib Dems want to see a time of co-operation on this council and working hard for the local people." said Nigel Bennett Lib Dem PPC for South Suffolk.

Results: Great Cornard North Lib Dem 273 (61%) Labour 174 (39%) No Con candidate

Great Cornard South Lib Dem 203 (58%) Conservative (42%) No Labour candidate
