Liberal Democrats were celebrating the win in Great Cornard South for the Parish Council over both Conservatives and Labour. Colin Wright the Lib Dems candidate polled 41% of the vote while labour came third with 22%.
Meanwhile in Sudbury East, Independent Nicky Dixon, 53%, won by just 40 votes over Lib Dem Oliver Forder, who polled 47%.
"These results show the advance of the Liberal Democrats in South Suffolk and with a few weeks to go to the General Election, South Suffolk will be an interesting result." said Nigel Bennett Lib Dem PPC.
