"The revelation that the retained station at Nayland was unmanned for more than a week in July and unavailable for 53 occasions equalling 188 hours is a real concern for our villages in that part of South Suffolk." said Nigel Bennett South Suffolk Parliamentary campaigner.
He added, "This comes on top of the shortages during the day at Sudbury. If one station is unavailable then you rely on another but the shortages seem to be so bad that may not be possible."
"After speaking to some local firefighters I am deeply concerned about the lack of retained staff during the day because of the recession. There seems to be a need to have full time firefighters during the day. I will be taking these issues up with the Brigade when the Chief Fire Officer attends Sudbury Town Council on Tuesday 8th September." he added.
