A funding shortfall is threatening the fight against crime in Suffolk. Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate Kathy Pollard, who was a Police Authority member for 7 years warned, "A £6 million shortfall this year has already led to a number of cost cutting measures. If there is a similar cut next year police numbers are bound to be affected."
Police Authority member and County Councillor, Dave Wood added, "Ten years ago Suffolk lost 100 Police Officers, due to cuts in funding by the Tory government. Not one Conservative MP in Suffolk was willing to stand up in Parliament and support the police service at that time." Kathy Pollard, who had a long fight to reverse the cuts 10 years ago said, "People already tell us that they don't see enough Police Officers, especially in villages. Further cuts in funding by Labour will make the situation even worse."
Liberal Democrats have budgeted for an extra 10,000 extra police to effectively patrol on streets and would cut the time spent on paperwork.
